Show or hide frame borders

When a frames page is viewed in a browser, you can specify whether you want to show or hide borders between frames.
- In Page view, open the frames page you want to modify, and then click the Normal tab.
- On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Frames tab:
- To show borders between frames, select the Show borders check box, and then in the Frame spacing box, type the width for the borders in pixels. The default for most Web browsers is 2 pixels.
- To hide borders between frames, clear the Show borders check box.
Tip To create invisible frames, clear the Show borders check box and set Frame spacing to 0.
Split a frame
On any frames page, you can split a frame horizontally or vertically to create two frames.
- In Page view, open the frames page you want to modify, and then hold down CTRL and drag any frame border.
Notes
- To exactly split a frame into two evenly divided columns or rows, click Split Frame on the Frames menu, and then select the appropriate option.
- Splitting a frame does not affect the contents of the page displayed in the original frame.
Switch between frames in a frames page
If you're editing a frames page in Page view, you can edit only one page in one frame at a time. A dark blue box indicates the current frame or the frames page.
- Click in the frame you want to edit, or press F6 or SHIFT+F6 to change the current frame. Each time you click a frame, or press F6 or SHIFT+F6, the highlight moves to indicate the current frame.
View or edit a frames page inside a frame
A frame may display or point to another frames page, which is considered a "nested" frames page (because it's nested inside the frame of another frames page). However, you can't directly view or edit a nested frames page when the Normal tab is selected for the parent frames page.
- To see how the parent frames page that contains the nested frames page(s) will look when a site visitor views it in a browser, click the Preview tab.
- To edit a frames page nested inside a frame, click the View Frames Page button inside the frame. FrontPage opens the nested frames page in Page view.
